Calli’s Grill: Cajun Seafood in Western Sydney

Calli’s Grill is where Western Sydney goes for a messy, saucy Cajun seafood boil, and you don’t have to leave St Marys to get it. Grab the bibs, pack the wet wipes and get ready to eat with your hands. You’ll find this food truck at the West Sydney Food Truck Park on the Great Western Highway, in the old Hogs Breath Cafe car park. It bills itself as the home of the Cajun seafood boil, American soul food plates and American street food in Western Sydney. That’s a big promise, and the buckets back it up.

What to order

The Cajun seafood boil is the star. The plate comes loaded with peeled prawns, half-shell mussels, corn, potato and pork kransky, plus a side of rice. If you’re feeding the whole crew, go for a seafood bucket. They come in small, medium and large, so you can size up for a family share. Not a seafood family? The soul food plate with lamb chops is one of the most ordered dishes. The Cajun kransky with rice is a solid pick for smaller appetites, and the hot chips with chicken salt will keep the kids happy. Lamb lovers are well looked after too. There are grilled lamb chops with jasmine rice, plus lamb fries, which is grilled lamb piled on chips with torched cheese and BBQ sauce. Customers also rave about the Beef and Reef steak smothered in Cajun sauce.

The Cajun Seafood Boil Plate is $40, and the seafood buckets are $35 for a small, $55 for a medium and $70 for a large. The Soul Food Plate with lamb chops is $36, the lamb chops with rice are $28 and the lamb fries are $23. For lighter appetites, the Cajun Kransky and Rice is $17 and hot chips are $12.

Why families love it

A seafood bucket is made for sharing. Tip it out, everyone digs in, and nobody cares about table manners. It’s the kind of dinner the kids will talk about all week.

The food truck park setting keeps things relaxed. There’s open space and other trucks nearby, so fussy eaters can grab something else. Calli’s also runs community events at the park, like the Western Sydney Filipino Food Festival and a Halloween Trunk or Treat. Keep an eye on their socials for what’s coming up.

They’re big on community, too. Calli’s has hosted fundraisers at the park, including one for a local under-14 girls basketball team from Blacktown Storm.

Calli’s holds a 4.5-star rating from more than 1,000 Uber Eats reviews. Local food reviewers Sydney Food Brothers called the boil generous and said the Cajun sauce alone is reason enough to go back. Across the reviews, the same two things keep coming up: big portions and bold flavour.

Mum tips

It’s dinner only, so plan an early evening visit before the kids get tired. Food trucks can change plans because of weather or events, so check Calli’s socials before you head out. Pack wet wipes and a spare top for the little ones, because Cajun sauce gets everywhere. Order a bucket to share and add a serve of chips for anyone who isn’t into seafood.

Plus if you love the sauce Calli’s sells its own Cajun spice mix. You can grab it at the food truck park, Jacks Seafood in Mt Druitt and Atlantic Seafood at Westfield Mt Druitt. Pick up some prawns and mussels while you’re there and seafood boil night at home is sorted.
