Blacktown Showground Precinct

If you’re looking for a big, easy, family-friendly spot to spend a few hours (or a whole day), Blacktown Showground Precinct should be on your list. It’s one of the most popular outdoor spaces for Western Sydney families — thanks to its huge water play zone, shaded picnic spots, playgrounds, and plenty of room for the kids to run wild.

The first thing you’ll notice is the large undercover water play area. It’s spacious, has plenty of splash zones, and is perfect for hot days. Even though the playground isn’t gated, everything is open and easy to keep an eye on, and the water play section is huge.

Next to the water play you’ll find an outdoor playground with slides, climbing frames, swings, and heaps of space for toddlers and primary-aged kids. It’s not gated, but everything is close together, so families find it easy to keep an eye on the kids and you’re never far from shade or a seat.

There are lots of shaded picnic tables and BBQs spread throughout the precinct. If you’re planning a birthday party or group catch-up, it’s first come, first served, so arriving early is your best bet — especially on weekends.

The Groundkeeper Cafe

Right inside the precinct is The Groundskeeper Café, a popular option for coffee, snacks, and easy kid-friendly meals. It makes the day so much easier if you don’t feel like packing food.

Blacktown Showground Precinct is designed with families in mind:

  • Plenty of parking
  • Toilets available on site
  • Basketball court for older kids and teens
  • Open grassy areas perfect for picnics, scootering, and kicking a ball
