Mount Druitt Swimming Centre Upgrade

Big changes are coming to Mount Druitt pools, with the much-loved Mount Druitt Swimming Centre set to undergo a major $40.6 million renewal designed to better serve local families in Western Sydney.

Funded through the Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) program, this redevelopment is one of seven transformational projects aimed at delivering high-quality community facilities across Western Sydney.

The Mount Druitt Swimming Centre will close this weekend to allow construction to begin. While locals will miss having the pools open in the short term, the long-term benefits are set to be huge. We’ll be sharing updates as the project progresses, so stay tuned.

Once complete, the upgraded Mount Druitt Swimming Centre will offer a modern, inclusive and all-weather aquatic space, meaning families can enjoy swimming all year round.

The renewed facility will include:

  • A new indoor 25-metre swimming pool with a family-friendly splash pad
  • Refurbishment of the existing 50-metre outdoor pool
  • A multi-functional community space for programs and events
  • A new kiosk and reception area
  • Inclusive amenities and modern changerooms
  • Thoughtful landscape embellishments and an upgraded entrance experience

The swimming centre renewal is just one piece of a broader masterplan to transform the Mount Druitt town centre. As part of the same WSIG funding, the precinct will also welcome:

  • Renovations to the Mount Druitt Hub
  • A brand-new First Nations Cultural Hub
  • A new public garden to improve green space and amenity
  • Improved pedestrian and traffic connections throughout the city centre

Together, these projects aim to strengthen community connection, accessibility and pride in Mount Druitt.

We’ll keep you updated as works progress and share reopening timelines as soon as they’re announced.
