Paper Daisy Festival
Sydney’s Biggest Paper Daisy Display Is Here And It’s Completely Free
If you’re after a free family day out in Western Sydney this spring, put this one straight in the diary. The Paper Daisy Spring Festival has landed at the Australian Botanic Garden, Mount Annan, and it’s easily one of the most photogenic (and budget-friendly) things to do with kids in Sydney right now.

What Is the Paper Daisy Spring Festival?
The festival celebrates spring with food, flowers, live music, creative workshops and family fun alongside a spectacular paper daisy display. The daisies themselves are planted in the Connections Garden, right next to Lakeside Lawn and just across from the Visitors Centre, so they’re easy to find as soon as you arrive.
The festival runs from 4 September to 11 October 2026, daily during normal garden opening hours. Entry is completely free, making it one of the best free things to do in Sydney with kids this season.
Things to Do Every Day
- Wander the paper daisy display in the Connections Garden — a full field of pink and white blooms, perfect for photos.
- Grab a bite to eat at the Gardens Café (open 8:30am–4pm daily), or check out the Gozleme Food Truck and Bar Coco for coffee, gelato and Turkish street food.
- Browse the Spring Pop-Up Shop on Lakeside Lawn for paper daisy-inspired gifts and homewares (running 4–21 September).
- Let the kids loose at the Garden’s Playground, a nature-inspired play space right next to the café, ideal for parents wanting a coffee while the kids climb and explore.
- Check out the new Muru Nangamai / Pathway to Dreaming Walk, a cultural walking trail with poetry, art and summit views, opening 11 Sep

Top tips for parents
- Head to the Connections Garden first — it’s right next to the playground, so little ones can burn off energy afterwards
- Bring a picnic rug; there’s plenty of grassy space on Lakeside Lawn
- Get there early on weekends if you want a park spot near the café — this event is popular
- Book ahead for the Paint Among the Paper Daisies workshop if you want a guaranteed spot (adults $65, kids $45)
- The daisies are in bloom from late August through mid-to-late September, so aim for a visit in that window for peak colour
- Facilities and food are all close together near the Visitors Centre, so it’s an easy layout for prams
