Bennett Park St Marys Upgrade: What Local Families Need to Know
If you’ve got littles (or big kids) in St Marys or surrounding areas, get excited! Bennett Park is about to become one of the best playspaces in the area. Construction has officially kicked off on a full rebuild, and it’s shaping up to be worth the wait. Here’s what’s coming, when it’ll be ready, and where to take the kids in the meantime.
Where Is Bennett Park?
7 King St (corner of King Street and Stapleton Parade), St Marys. Easy to find, close to the shops, and already a regular stop for local families on the weekend loop.
What’s Actually Changing?
Penrith City Council is replacing the old playspace and learn-to-ride loop with a brand new mixed recreation space built for the whole family. Think less “toddler swing set,” more “somewhere the whole crew wants to hang out for a few hours.”
What Your Kids Will Love
- A big new playspace with equipment scaled for young kids, tweens and teenagers, so no more one child bored while the other plays
- A mini pump track with beginner and intermediate loops, bring the bikes and scooters
- A cliff rider and canoe swing for the kids who want the bigger stuff
- New pathways, seating, shade and tree planting, a proper win for parents who just want somewhere to sit while the kids run off energy
When Can We Actually Go?
Early to mid 2027. Yep, it’s a bit of a wait but it’s a genuinely major upgrade, backed by Penrith City Council, the NSW Government’s Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants Program, and the Australian Government’s Investing in Our Communities Program.
Is the Park Still Open Right Now?
Yes, the rest of Bennett Park stays open while construction happens. It’s just the playspace itself that’s fenced off for now, so plan around that if you’re heading over.
More Playground Upgrades Landing Around St Marys
Bennett Park is part of a bigger wave of family-friendly investment in the area. Council also has upgrades underway or planned at Poplar Park, Robin Wiles Park and Wattle Avenue Reserve, plus the brand new St Marys Central Park project, a new green civic heart for the suburb. Already delivered: refreshed playspaces at Cook Park and Margaret Porter Reserve, and a brand new playspace at Monfarville Reserve. Worth adding all of these to your family outings list.
