Naming Bradfield City’s Central Park, roads and places

Imagine your child asking, “Mum, can we drive down the street WE named?”

Or pointing to a park sign and sharing the First Nations story behind its name and connection to Country.

Western Sydney families, this is a genuine once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Bradfield City, Australia’s first new city in more than 100 years, is being built next to Western Sydney International Airport. Now, local families can help name its future roads, parks, public spaces and buildings, including a First Nations name for the central park on Dharug Country.

Your idea could celebrate a local story, our diverse communities, an Australian achievement, or a person whose contribution has helped shape the history and identity of Western Sydney.

Ask the kids. Get creative. Dream up a name that could live on for generations.

One day, your family could point to a sign and say, “That was our idea!”

The NSW Government is seeking name suggestions that reflect:

  • First Nations Connection to Country – names that reflect Aboriginal technologies, language or people that connect the history of the place with the future of the city.
  • Western Sydney’s diversity and achievements – names that showcase Western Sydney’s cultural diversity, heritage and future, and contributions to shaping our city’s rich identity.
  • Australian innovation and excellence – names that relate to Australian achievements in science, technology, engineering and innovation.

One of the first places to be named will be the 2-hectare Central Park in the heart of Bradfield City above the metro. The community is invited to submit First Nations names that reflect its important role as a welcoming gathering place.

Other ideas submitted will help create a name bank for future streets, parks and public spaces as the city grows, helping shape the character and identity of the city.

Bradfield City will deliver 10,000 new homes and 20,000 jobs, with advanced manufacturing and future-focused industries driving economic growth across Western Sydney.
