Cherry Blossom Festival 2025
Get ready to step into a sea of soft pink petals this August as the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival returns to the Auburn Botanic Gardens. Running from Saturday 16 August to Sunday 24 August 2025, this much-loved event is one of Western Sydney’s most beautiful celebrations, drawing families from near and far to enjoy the magic of Japan’s famous sakura season—without leaving Sydney.
A Stroll Through the Cherry Blossom Trail
The star of the show is the Cherry Blossom Trail, where over 200 cherry trees burst into bloom. You’ll wander through the Japanese Garden past the Cherry Arbour, across traditional bridges, and under the iconic Torii Gate. Every corner is a picture-perfect moment, so have your camera ready for family photos.
Fun for All Ages
It’s not just about the blossoms—there’s plenty to see and do for the whole family. The Sakura Stage will be alive with Taiko drumming, Japanese dance, music, and cultural demonstrations. Kids (and adults!) can get hands-on with origami, manga drawing, calligraphy, and other crafts at the Takumi Pavilion. There are also animal encounters and live performances to enjoy!
Food Worth the Trip
No festival is complete without delicious food, and the Japanese Food Village is packed with tempting eats—from ramen and gyoza to sweet mochi and festival favourites. This year, you can even try Gelato Messina’s exclusive “Aunty Tomsu’s Cheesecake Sundae,” created just for the festival.
For parents looking for a treat, Izakaya Amore offers Japanese-inspired cocktails, a special Cherry Festival Lager, live jazz, and DJ sets with Tokyo city pop vibes (18+).
Don’t Miss the Kimono Photo Experience
For a truly memorable moment, dress in a traditional kimono and pose under the Torii Gate with Mt Fuji in the backdrop—it’s like stepping into Japan for the day.
