Wylde MTB and BMX Track

If your kids live on their bikes, put Wylde on the weekend list. This hub in Cecil Park is one of the largest combined mountain biking and BMX spots in Australia. It’s free, it’s open seven days, and there’s something for beginners right through to advanced riders.

  • 15km+ of mountain bike trails through Cumberland Plain bushland, for beginner, intermediate, competent and advanced riders
  • A BMX racetrack in the main Wylde precinct
  • A large pump track

Before you go: check the trail status. This one saves a wasted trip. The MTB trails are built on natural clay, which takes a while to dry out after rain. When they’re wet they’re dangerous, so they close during and after wet weather. Riding a closed trail can get you a fine.

The BMX track sometimes closes for events and club meetings, and the pump track can close for maintenance. Rangers check everything each morning and update the status on the Wylde page by 8am.

BMX track note: it’s closed to the public for club training and races on Tuesdays 4:30pm to 8:30pm and Saturdays 7am to 2pm. If your kid wants a go on the BMX track, plan for a Sunday or a weekday before 4:30pm.

Wylde has toilets, drinking water fountains, bike racks and a bike washing station. The picnic shelters and BBQs are free to use, but they’re first come, first served, so get in early on a weekend.

There are no food outlets, so pack snacks or bring lunch to cook on the BBQ. Most of the site is open bushland, so bring sunscreen, plenty of water and a hat.

  • Only mountain bikes on the MTB trails. E-MTBs are allowed too.
  • Kids under 16 must ride the trail with an adult. Plan to ride with them.
  • Helmets and protective gear are a must.
