Thirlmere festival of steam
Join the NSW Rail Museum and Wollondilly Shire Council for a memorable weekend as Thirlmere welcomes back the annual Festival of Steam.
Enjoy steam train rides featuring a line-up of iconic locomotives, explore vintage traction engines, admire classic cars, and take in the annual street parade and live entertainment throughout the day.
Step back in time and explore the art, entertainment, and engineering of the past. Get hands-on with history as you climb into the driver’s cab of the newly restored steam locomotive 2705, watch live demonstrations of traditional trades, see a 104-year-old coal grab crane spring to life, or try your hand at shovelling coal like a fireman.
Throughout the town of Thirlmere, you’ll find roving performers, science experiments for kids, and plenty of surprises around every corner. Across the weekend, explore market stalls, a street parade, live performances, carnival rides, a vintage car display, and more!
And, this year, the festivities continue into the evening.
Get set for a fantastic celebration of steam, history, and community.

Mason and main grand opening
Western Sydney is set to celebrate a buzzing new destination for food and culture, as Coronation Property prepares to officially open the highly anticipated retail and dining hub, at Mason & Main, in Merrylands.
The precinct’s festival style grand opening will officially introduce Mason & Main’s new Eat Street, Friday, Saturday & Sunday nights.
Festivities will commence from 6pm each evening, featuring live music, interactive performers, food pop-ups and sampling, family-friendly games, not to mention over $20,000 worth of products and freebies to give away as part of a ‘Spin & Win’ promotion. The evening will be illuminated by night with performers glowing in LED lights, as well as a glitter bar and glam station with UV face painting and neon balloon giveaways.

Blacktown city medieval fayre
Head back to the middle ages at the spectacular Blacktown City Medieval Fayre.
Be immersed in the medieval culture through the feathered friends show, medieval displays, combat artillery, handmade arts and crafts, a working Blacksmith and Woodturners village, and medieval-themed food. Even better when you come dressed in medieval garb and compete in the Best Dressed competition.
Tickets are $10 per person per day including booking fee. Children 3 years and under are free.
Please note – The Nurragingy Miniature Railway will be running on both days from 10am to 3pm with rides at just $4 each. All visitors are welcome.
