ICF Slalom World Championships -Penrith

Mark your calendars: from 29 September to 4 October 2025, Penrith will host the ICF Slalom (Canoe & Kayak) World Championships at the Penrith Whitewater Stadium.

This is a rare chance for Sydney families to see the world’s top paddlers compete right on our doorstep. Here’s what you need to know to plan a fun, stress-free outing.

Spectator areas around the course give good views without needing specialist gear. Races are compact and action-packed, so even younger children can follow a run from start to finish. There will be more than 300 athletes from dozens of nations, team races and medal ceremonies to watch, plus the high-energy Kayak Cross which is particularly crowd-friendly.

Food outlets and basic amenities are available on site, and there are lawns and picnic spots around Penrith Lakes for breaks between sessions.

Tickets are on sale via Ticketek / Sydney2025 sites. Prices start from about $15 for kids and $30 for adults for some sessions. Premium and hospitality packages are also available.

Public transport links to Penrith Station and local bus services connect to the venue, while on-site parking is provided though busy sessions can fill early. Book tickets and any required parking in advance and allow extra travel time on finals days when crowds are largest.

Arrive early to secure a good viewing spot and to give kids time to settle. The stadium is exposed in places, so sun protection and water are essential. Pick a finals day if you want the most dramatic racing, or choose a midweek session for a quieter outing. Bring a picnic or plan a stop at nearby cafes and parks if you want a more relaxed family day out. For live updates, athlete lists and session changes check the event app or official social channels on the day.
