Free Things to Do in Sydney — Hyde Park Barracks
If you’re looking for free and low-cost activities in Sydney with kids, Hyde Park Barracks belongs at the top of your list. UNESCO World Heritage-listed, packed with over 4,000 real artefacts, and now home to one of the most immersive audio experiences in Australia — this is history, but not as you know it.
why kids love it
This isn’t a stand-and-read museum. Hyde Park Barracks has been completely reimagined with immersive technology that puts your family directly inside the stories of real people who lived here.
Your kids will follow in the footsteps of convicts, immigrants, and everyday Australians from centuries ago. They’ll hear their voices. Stand where they stood. It’s the kind of experience that makes history click in a way no classroom ever could.
