Somerville Park
Somerville Park in Eastwood just got a serious upgrade —It opens this Saturday and is so worth the drive!

The $4.7 million transformation has turned this already-loved local park into a proper destination for families. Yes, Eastwood sits just outside Western Sydney, but it’s close enough that it absolutely belongs on your list — especially with what’s on offer now.
the playground
The centrepiece is a district-scale accessible playground designed for kids aged 0 to 12. It’s skill and sensory-based, so it works well for a wide range of kids including those with additional needs. Expect climbing structures, swings, water play and abacus-style play elements. It’s the kind of playground where different ages can all find their thing without you having to referee.

sports & fitness
There’s a large oval used for cricket in summer and rugby union in winter, plus a mini field, multi-purpose sports courts and outdoor fitness equipment. There’s even a seniors fitness zone, which makes it genuinely useful for the whole family — grandparents included.
Accessibility
This is where Somerville Park really stands out. The upgrade has improved paths and accessibility throughout, with a fully accessible Changing Places facility on-site. The playground equipment includes inclusive options, making it one of the better accessible parks in the area.
